A Nice Little Sunset - Sky Watch #49
A sky like this is so rare around where I live, due to the mostly dry climate, that when they do occur, you just want to get out and shoot something, anything, to take advantage. This one was taken among the eroded hills above Torrey Pines State Beach, just a few miles from home. Interesting how the flowing forms of the clouds echo the similar shapes of the terrain in the foreground. Wish I could say I was considering that at the time, but if I was, it was subconsciously. As they say.. sometimes it's better to be lucky:)

A beautiful shot. I've never been to Torrey Pines, thanks for bringing me along.
What an incredible photo! I love the colors, and the windswept sand below is the perfect complement.
What a brilliant landscape. Fantastic shot.
Sydney - City and Suburbs
So beautiful. I love Torrey Pines. I lived at the Lodge at Torrey Pines for a couple of months, and I didn't mind driving to La Jolla every month from Orange County for doctor appointments. You really captured the beauty of it.
Great Photo!
Wow! Stunningly beautiful. I love the "movement" you captured. Your shot has terrific composition and coloring. I just love it! Glad you were able to get out and shoot that sky...
Just gorgeous!!
Stunning! That's all I can think of to say.Simply stunning.
oh, very beautiful Mark. and you chose a perfect place to complement the dramatic sky. I love Torrey Pines, it is actually my favorite place here in San Diego.
Beautiful sky shot. I love how the trees seems to follow the lines of the clouds.
Incredible shot! Brought back lovely memories of visiting Torrey Pines.
The colors and composition are breathtaking!
Have a lovely weekend!
Luck or not, it's a gorgeous shot. I love when the clouds mimic the landscape.
If your at the North Rim Grand Canyon ask at the visitor center for Gaelyn.
Gorgeous.
a great backdrop to some gorgeous trees
That is one helluva photograph. Excellent.
Just thought I'd add my pennysworth... what makes it for me is that low scudding cloud, making a break for the border.. a free spirit caught beautifully by the low-angled sunlight.
Nice :)
Wow. That is gorgeous, Mark. Yes, I see how the clouds mirror the earth in a kind of 'movement.' Like they are swaying together. Even the pines have joined in...
This is so beautiful !! The sky is so colorful...I loved this one..Unseen Rajasthan
Subconsciously means natural flare I say! A mesmerizing shot sir excellent!
Not difficult to spot the direction of the prevailing wind in this one.
btw you can have some off our cumulus nimbus stuff if you want ;)
Wonderful composition ...stunning also comes to mind..
I think that sometimes it's amazing what the subconscious sees..
Wonderful capture..
So beautiful - love the unexpected ones that turn out to be something special.
Stunning sky shot, Mark! A lot of what we capture, we see almost subliminally, I think, because we're riveted on getting the shot instead of seeing the details.
Photography has its own special form of serendipity, I guess!
looks like the wind really took on some of those trees! And that link was neat!
Hello Mark,
What can i say ... That's just the kind of tones and colors i love. The bended pines also echo the shapes of sky and terrain.
Beautiful image.
Thank you everyone for visiting.. the kind comments are much appreciated!
Great work, Mark. As you say the sky was dramatic and your composition and overall execution brought out the best of it.
Excellent work
